Dominica. Impressive results from XADO

    In June 2021, in the MAAG gearbox (WPU-242B) of cement mill No. 3, the failure of the drive pinion bearing was detected: an increase in the operating temperature up to 92° and an increase in the vibration level by a factor of 2.4.

    As an alternative to replacing the bearing, a new additive supplied by XADO was applied in May 2021, which restores the irregularities occurring on bearings and other friction elements as a result of wear.

The process has progressed positively since the application of the additive and so far (December 2022) we have observed the following results.

    1. The signal levels of the monitoring sensors of bearing #9, which exhibited the fault, have gone from "alarm" to normal operating condition (OK!).

    2. Regarding vibrations, there is a steady decrease in the overall vibration level from the maximum achieved value of 1.7 G's to 0.65 G's.

    3. The bearing operating temperature has decreased to the nominal value (55°).

The benefits of using the XADO additive versus replacing the bearing resulted in savings of over $2,500,000 in downtime alone.
